Whanau Support Worker

The position supports tenant’s complex or serious needs by addressing the underlying causes that led to homelessness and thereby leading to better outcomes. This role works within the  housing social work team and other  health, education, social sector agencies and community organisations with the purpose  to:

1)      Identify longer-term housing solutions ;

2)      Assisting in the transition into longer-term accommodation;

Social Worker

The primary purpose for the Social Worker is to apply the paramountcy of the child principle in terms of safety, and work in partnership with children and their families to provide a relationship of trust.

The social worker collaborates with vulnerable families/whanau to identify and develop family led interventions that aim to

  • Address the tenant’s complex or serious needs by addressing the underlying causes that led to homelessness and thereby leading to better outcomes.
  • Increase family support systems
  • Link the family to community agencies to sustain positive outcomes.

Social Services

Family Counsellor

The Counsellor works as part of the Strive Social Services Team to provide a counselling service to the wider community.

Counsellors help people to explore feelings and emotions that are often related to their experiences, allowing clients to reflect on what is happening to them and consider alternative ways of doing things.  The aim is to enable them to cope with challenges or to make positive changes in their life where necessary.

MASSiSS Social Worker

The Social Worker in Secondary Schools (SWISS) works in partnership with the young person to provide a relationship of trust, and collaborates with social, health and education agencies and other community services to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach of early intervention/prevention strategies to promote individual safety and well-being that will foster and achieve a positive life outcome.

STRIVE Community Trust employs eleven Social Workers to support students in six high schools. The Social Workers provide assessment; individual and family support, reside within the social services team based within each school, develop and facilitate the group programmes and refer to a network of social services agencies.

Cleaners

Strive Community Trust is currently seeking a hardworking, dedicated individual to join our cleaning team. We aim to make sure that overall cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in all our sites. Your past experience working in the cleaning or hospitality industry is desirable.

Whilst the main function of the role is cleaning in any of our 6 office sites, the role is varied and no two days may be the same, so you must be adaptable at short notice.

There may be occasional Saturday and Sunday work.
