MASSiSS is a school-based community social work service that offers early and responsive social work interventions to young people and their whanau from specific low decile secondary schools, where problems have been identified which put young people’s education, safety or wellbeing at risk. The Service is located within schools providing an opportunity for young people and their whanau in need of extra support to easily link.

- makes social work support visible and accessible
- provides a site where most people are regularly seen
- there is an existing infrastructure to deliver holistic and coordinated services
- allows problems to be identified early
